Jacob is routinely the attorney of record on criminal appeals at the Washington State Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. This provides not only trial experience but a deep understanding of the law. He is the representative from his office on the Washington State Prosecutor's Association Appellate Committee.
Jacob works closely with the Longview Street Crimes Unit in addressing the illegal use and distribution of drugs in Cowlitz County. He fights to keep illegal drugs and drug dealers out of our community.
Jacob routinely works with this team to help reduce crime in Cowlitz County and keep guns and illegal drugs off the streets of Cowlitz County.
The Multi-Disciplinary team consists of law enforcement agencies, child protective services, the child justice advocacy center, and licensed physical and mental health practitioners. This team addresses physical and sexual abuse against children.
Jacob's caseload consists of homicides, child sexual assaults, illegal distribution of narcotics, felony assaults, domestic violence, and gun violence. His trials are routinely in the local paper based on the serious nature of the charges.

Jacob's career has been guided by the principal that the rule of law protects both public safety and individual rights.
Jacob's significant experience as a criminal trial attorney in Cowlitz County Superior Court has prepared him to be a judge. He also has appellate experience that gives the foresight to understand how the higher courts would view his rulings.
Every day, as a Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, Jacob fights to uphold justice and will continue to fight for justice on the bench. He is committed to finding the truth in every case.

After completing a lengthy and complicated homicide trial, Jacob was honored to be presented with a Kelso Police Department coin. This was given to him by the Chief of Police to acknowledge his hard work and dedication in working with the Kelso Police Department.
Jacob received the honor of being selected to Order of the Barristers. The Order of the Barristers is a highly selective national honor society that recognizes graduating law students and practicing attorneys who demonstrate exceptional skill in oral advocacy, trial advocacy, and brief writing. He was 1 of 10 students selected from his graduating class of Arizona State University Law School.
Jacob externed at the Court of Appeals in Arizona for the honorable John W. Thompson. He helped with researching and writing on various appeals dealing with every area of law.
Jacob was selected to be a teaching assistant to former Arizona State Law School professor Carolyn Williams. He worked with first year law students on learning how to draft briefs and do oral arguments.
Upon leaving Thurston County, he was presented with a plaque recognizing his dedication and work in serving the residents of Thurston County.
Jacob completed the 10 week Citizen's Police Academy. It is designed to teach citizens as much as possible about Cowlitz County's local law enforcement system. There are classes on patrol procedures, investigations, drugs, SWAT, k-9, use of force, and several other topics.
